In Memory of Pastor Devadanam
Febrary 16th, 2008
I received a phone call today from Dr. Joseph in Narasaropet, India. He wanted to
tell me of the passing of Pastor Devadanam due to a sudden heart attack. Such news
caused my heart and mind to sense the loss involved in his death. Pastor Devadanam
was a humble servant of Christ who worked among the rural people of India living
along the seashore in Andhra Pradesh. God used him to reach out to many and share
the good news of new life in Jesus Christ. On New Year's Day of 2007 I was invited
to preach in his church. The church building was so full that people had to stand
outside. One year later, under his leadership, a new church building was dedicated
with over 500 people attending.
Pastor Devadanam's death means the loss of a great man. India has suffered a great
loss, his wife and family have suffered a great loss, and we his friends and
co-laborers here in the United States have suffered a great loss. I remember his
dear wife saying to us as we walked together, "Please don't forget us." We have not
forgotten you! The memory of Pastor Devadanam will live on in our hearts. He has
impacted us in a way that we will never be the same. We share this great loss with
you.
We are honored to have known and worked alongside of such a great man who humbly
loved and faithfully served His Master.
